R U 4 GM, EU?

GM Training

Several members of the South Gloucestershire FoE attended a training day at Brunswick Court in Bristol. The agenda included an update on the progress of campaigning to make Europe GM free. The attendees weren't in for an easy day and were made to work, using their joint brainpower to create a workable campaign strategy, penned onto the obligatory flip chart paper, neatly folded and retained for future use by Alan.

The aim of the strategy was to persuade the local and regional government authorities to sign a newly created petition stating their intention, to keep their region, free of GM crops (see here). If all local regions of Europe were to sign up, the sum total would make Europe a GM free zone. Think small but aspire to big.

Other FoE attendees arrived from various locations, mainly the South West and Wales. Feedback from fellow campaigners on the likelihood of their regions signing the petition varied and it was agreed that we should offer support to each other if needed and that perhaps we should be more pro-active in reaching out to other FoE groups.

Oh and yummy biscuits were available throughout the day!
