Good Energy and Ecotricity are our two suppliers of green electricity. You may have seen an article in the Ecologist saying that Good Energy is a con. I too saw this article and was horrified that the Ecologist should print such rubbish. I am disgusted that Ecotricity should stoop to this level. They should be growing the market for green electricity, not using half truths to attack the only other supplier.
Good Energy and Ecotricity have different approaches, which is good. Good Energy are currently upgrading their windmills at Delabole to increase their capacity. They buy electricity from people like me, who are creating new generating capacity. So the basic premise of the article is factually wrong.
Good Energy is not a con. Good Energy is the only electricity supplier that only sells 100% renewable electricity. On the other hand Ecotricity mostly buys its electricity on the open market. The money customers pay to Ecotricity goes directly to the nuclear and fossil fuel generators. Yes Ecotricity deserve our support because they build windmills, but they are no better than Good Energy, only different. The Ecologist article is plain rubbish.
