Greenbelt The Greenbelt is still threatened. There is little indication that the Regional Spatial Strategy for the West of England is taking much notice of lobbying to preserve the greenbelt.
The recently published Strategic Geenbelt Review indicates provision for 92,500 new dwellings in the Greater Bristol area. Some 37,000 of these will be in “new urban extensions”, aka Green Belt. Note that the rest will include some built on existing green fields in places like Harry Stoke and Emerson's Green. Green Belt incursions are indicated for the following areas:

Of course, as well as Green Belt defined land, there will be a huge amount of building on other green field sites. And then there will be the traffic generated by this building, and the roads to be built to accommodate this traffic. The future for a the Bristol area is not a pleasant one if this goes ahead.
